Weekend # 27: July 3-4, 2009

Mount Marcy

We decided to do some training for Mt Rainier by taking a climb up Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks. It was scheduled to to be sunny for the whole 3 day weekend...until we actually started to drive up there. By the time we got there it was raining, and pretty much never stopped.

This was the dryest we saw the trail the whole weekend.

Brad checking the map

It's getting muddier

The bridge over the river

This is nothing compared to the waterfall we saw the next day

Now it really started to rain

Without these boards, there's no way you're keeping dry

The first lean to. It was pretty much the only time it stopped raining all day

The view from the second lean to. That's not fog - it's rain!

Brad getting ready to have lunch

That's how boots should look :-). But the lesson learned here is to bring gaiters always... just in case. Wet cold feet really sucks.

The quote of the year. "This is not fun!" Jaime to Mom.

The view from the lean to we slept in. It did not stop raining ALL night.

Unfortunately, nothing we put up on the line get any drier. In fact, it all got wetter, which I did not know was possible.

At the end of the trail. This was the only time it got sunny at the end of the two days.
