Weekend # 41 : Skydiving at Skydive the Ranch

Saturday, October 18, 2008

I have been trying to go skydiving for a while now. I finally got a chance to do it. I chose the Ranch for a few reasons. First, I knew a guy who was a jumpmaster here at one time, so I knew it was a good place. Second, they had a number of different planes, including a twin otter, which told me off the bat that it was no fly by night operation. Third, I read good thing about it. Plus it's close to the city.

Location:

The first jump is a Tandem Skydive on a parachute built for Two people. The Jump is made from 13,500 feet weather permitting. You Freefall down to 6000 feet. You activate the Ripcord and then help your instructor fly the parachute back to the ground.

Partners In Crime:

Group 1

Group 2

Me and Brit, walking to the plane. It's hard to look cool in the 1920's bullethead football helmet. But I feel I did an admiral job here.

My instructor, Batman. Needless to say, I was just slightly over weight, so they had to bring in Batman to be my partner.

It's on!

Can you tell I'm ready to get it on?

I wanted to make sure I arched my back and didn't flip us. Can you tell by the face? It's a combination of sheer excitement and concentration on my "Arch".

I didn't talk until I was 3 and a half years old. I haven't stopped talking since. Fall out of the plane was no different. :-)

My eyese are now tearing up from the wind getting under the glasses. At this point we are about 10 or 15 seconds into the jump. I can't beleive we're still falling.

Just look at that pretty face! :-) I kept yelling because I was so excited and the wind was blowing my mouth open and it felt funny. So I kept doing it. I figured it would make for funny pictures. I was right!

About 30 seconds into the freefall.

Still yelling.

Still yelling!

Landing. In case you can't tell.... I am STILL YELLING

At this point, I am ready to go again.

Notice the glasses pushing into my face. LOL.

Me and Wayne. It wasn't the freefall. His hair always looks like that.

Me, Wayne and Brit.

Lenore getting her jump on.

Trina cheesing it up.
