Last Year, in order to get my silver elite status from Continental, I scheduled a couple of trips in the last weeks of the year. I did Park City Snowboarding the weekend prior to Christmas, the Bahamas Christmas weekend, and Jay Peak, Vermont new years weekend. And while I basically was exhausted from all the running around, it got me to thinking. I always think that you really can't go anywhere serious for just a weekend. But if those three weeks are any indicator, you can knowck some stuff off you list pretty quickly if you plan out and utilize those two treasured days you get every for every seven.
The bottom line is, I really need to take better advantage of my weekends, no matter what it is I manage to do during them. So long as I don't feel like I wasted away my time on the couch all weekend and get that Monday morning guilty feeling. They are, in fact, 52 guaranteed holiday's away from work. So in my first weekend of the year, I sat down and prepared a list of how I wanted to spend my 52 weekends this year. And while it will absolutely change as different priorities arise, and other responsibilities attempt to get in the way, I'm going to do my best to do something worthwhile every weekend this year.
Weekend Trips from 2007
Surfing in San Diego
A Sunday morning hike in South Mountain Reservation on the Rahway trail.
A weekend hike on the Appalachian Trail.
Snowboarding in Park City, Utah.
These are some of the things I got done in 2007 with just a couple of days away from the grind. This year I'm upping the Ante.
